KINDERGARTEN ART
3-D Shapes
Now we are working on 3 dimensional works of art. Students identified the 3D version of a 2D shape. We made clay bears by forming a series of spheres in different sizes. Students learned where clay comes from, how to form it into a ball and attach pieces together. We are also making snails by rolling coils which are long, skinny cylinders. |
2-D and 3-D Shapes
We have been working all year on creating works of art using shapes. Students have created a variety of 2-D or flat works of art using geometric and organic shapes. Now we will begin the adventure of working with 3-D shapes by making sculptural pieces. We will make clay bears by forming a series of spheres in different sizes. Students will learn where clay comes from, how to form it into a ball and attach pieces together. If time allows, we will also make snails by rolling coils which are long, skinny cylinders. |
Elements of Art
In Kindergarten, we have been busy learning about the elements of color, shape and lines. We have been looking at the colors of the rainbow, learning how to use our paints properly (ask them how the paint brush is like a ballerina) and exploring our cutting skills. We have also been focused on drawing, painting and cutting different kinds of lines. Our next projects will focus on shapes, primary and secondary colors and more cutting!!
I am so excited to begin our journey in art with you! The Kindergarten art program is designed to introduce students to the joys of creating and appreciating art. We will meet for 45 minutes every 6 days. Students will experience art making as both an individual and collaborative activity. Our kindergarten artists will explore art through a variety of learning experiences. We will explore the Elements of Art and use a variety of materials to create original works of art and make connections between art and other disciplines. We will work on developing our fine motor skills through drawing, coloring, painting, cutting, gluing and sculpting. Most of all, we will have tons of fun creating!
